Career & Technical Education (CTE) Cybersecurity WorkshopFebruary 7, 2022 - April 29. 2022 About: The Career & Technical Education (CTE) workshop is for current high school teachers with a background in computer repair, programming, or related fields, who want to teach cybersecurity. The workshop will introduce cybersecurity subject material, present best pedagogy practices, and prepare participants for the security plus certification exam. Curriculum: Teachers will receive an introduction to the model curriculum framework and related content, obtain hands-on training with cutting-edge educational tools such as mBots in the classroom, and be prepared to take the CompTIA Security+ exam. Mohawk Valley Community College will offer Professional Development Units to participants upon request. Workshop includes: Outline of curriculum with training topics & outcomes Guidelines for how topics can be taught Tutorials on instructional technologies Sample laboratory exercises Tools and equipment including Raspberry PIs and mBots Access to materials and communication channels for one year after course ends Ongoing support to ensure successful implementation of new approaches Access to a network of institutions interested in growing CTE cybersecurity instruction Stipend for travel and registration to the Community College Cyber (3CS) Summit May 23 - 25, 2022 A full day of hands-on instruction at an in-person workshop at 3CS This conference is funded by a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education Center Grant No. 1902329.
