Cybersecurity knowledge and abilities are needed in many of today's industries. The focus of this academy is to cross-train non-cybersecurity faculty to incorporate cybersecurity concepts and practices into their community college program disciplines.

This 2-day in-person faculty development academy is tailored for community college faculty in manufacturing and automation. The workshop will provide faculty with curriculum, content, and assessment instruments.

Seating is limited to 20 faculty.  Eligible faculty will receive a $500 stipend upon successfully completing the academy. Lunch will be provided.

Each workshop includes:

  • Model lesson plans
  • Risk management & assessment
  • Cybersecurity principles
  • Secure communications
  • Cybersecurity operations
  • Governance and compliance
  • Incident response
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity

Participants can expect to:

  • Improve their knowledge of emerging technologies, products, and trends in the cybersecurity field
  • Receive Instructional resources and regional workforce statistics
  • Increase technical expertise and credentials
  • Gain knowledge of how to engage with regional industry
  • Build additional leadership skills

Dr. John Sands, Co-PI of NCyTE and Director of the Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance (CSSIA) and professor at Moraine Valley Community College in Chicago, and his team will lead the workshop.

This event is funded by the Microsoft Accelerating Community College Cybersecurity Excellence (ACCCE) grant awarded to Whatcom Community College (Grant No. 2021080009)
