About the Workshop:

This intensive two-day workshop introduces agentic browsers—AI-powered tools that autonomously navigate, interact with, and extract information from websites on behalf of users—to cybersecurity and technology educators. Participants will explore how these intelligent agents combine large language models with browser automation to perform complex multi-step tasks such as competitive research, data gathering, form completion, and systematic web monitoring. The workshop emphasizes practical applications in education, cybersecurity training, and business contexts, with hands-on experience using leading platforms including Claude in Chrome (Anthropic), Browser Use, and other emerging agentic browser technologies. Through structured exercises, educators will learn to leverage these tools for curriculum development, threat intelligence gathering, student research scaffolding, and automated assessment workflows.

For cybersecurity educators specifically, this workshop demonstrates how agentic browsers can revolutionize security research and training methodologies. Participants will practice using these tools to automate vulnerability research across multiple vendor sites, aggregate threat intelligence from disparate sources, monitor dark web marketplaces for educational case studies, and create realistic penetration testing scenarios. Teachers will learn how to use agentic browsers in lab exercises so that students can safely learn about reconnaissance techniques, practice gathering OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), and see how automated tools can be used for both defensive security monitoring and adversarial automation. The workshop includes critical discussions on the security implications of agentic browsers, including potential misuse vectors, detection strategies, and defensive considerations.

Beyond cybersecurity applications, participants will discover how agentic browsers transform general educational practices and administrative workflows. The workshop includes real-world examples like using automated literature reviews for research, gathering job postings to match curriculum, analyzing training programs at similar schools, and keeping track of regulatory changes that impact educational technology. Educators will complete hands-on projects that include building a custom research assistant for student projects, creating automated monitoring systems for scholarship opportunities, developing comparison matrices of educational technology tools, and designing assignment workflows that leverage agentic browsing for authentic learning experiences. By workshop conclusion, participants will possess both theoretical understanding and practical skills to ethically integrate agentic browsers into their teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.

This presentation details the design and implementation of the Coastline Student Security Operations Center (SOC), a pilot program, created to bridge the "experience gap" by transitioning cybersecurity students from basic analysts to SOC analysts. Coastline will share their lessons learned, the open-source tools, provide an overview of the network topology, current lessons/incidents students use as learning opportunities, and the future roadmap for providing more students the opportunity to join the Work Experience SOC course.

Andrea Barrios

Andrea Barrios is a full-time tenured faculty member in the Computer & Cyber Sciences Department at Coastline College, where she specializes in digital forensics and cybersecurity curriculum design. She serves as the faculty advisor to the Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) and co-advisor to the Xploit Cybersecurity student chapters. She holds various faculty committee positions and is the AI Faculty Coordinator at Coastline. With over two decades of diverse experience spanning law enforcement, network security assessments, corporate incident response, and academia, Andrea has contributed to the NSF-funded CyberUp! Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) project, Strong Workforce Paving Equitable Pathways Technology & AI grants, and coaches the student teams for NCAE Cybergames and CIRCUS (Collegiate Incident Response Competition for Undergraduate Students).

Andrea holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, an MBA in Information Systems, and is a certified CISSP, GCFE and EnCE. A passionate advocate for experiential technical training, she worked with other Coastline faculty on creating the Student Security Operation Center to allow students to gain real-world, hands-on operational experience monitoring and defending network infrastructure.

This workshop presents a series of twelve hands-on exercises focused on cybersecurity Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC)—now enhanced through the responsible and strategic use of artificial intelligence.

Developed in response to a national workforce need, these materials prepare cybersecurity technicians and students to be more knowledgeable, analytical, and actively engaged in the compliance process. In this AI-integrated version, participants explore how AI can support risk assessments, automate compliance monitoring, analyze audit findings, and strengthen governance documentation while also addressing the risks and ethical considerations associated with AI use in regulated environments.

The workshop includes hands-on labs, auditing activities, and collaborative group projects. Participants will use AI tools to simulate audit scenarios, interpret PCI-DSS requirements, draft policy documentation, and evaluate organizational risk posture using real-world case studies.

Attendees will receive access to a complete course shell, assessment items, and a short capture-the-flag toolkit—now supplemented with AI-enhanced exercises and instructional guidance for integrating AI into GRC curriculum.

Business leaders nationwide have emphasized the need for community college cybersecurity graduates to be better prepared for the Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) certification exam, which is required to perform PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) audits. This workshop equips faculty with practical strategies to teach GRC concepts alongside emerging AI-driven compliance tools and AI governance considerations.

Improve consistency and quality across the CAE review process

The CAE Candidates National Center (CCNC), in collaboration with the CAE Peer Review National Center (PRNC), invites faculty, administrators, and program leaders to attend an in-person CAE-CD and CAE-CyberAI Program Development Workshop on August 5, 2026, at Towson University.

This workshop is designed specifically for institutions that are new to the CAE program and would like to learn how to get started. Participants will receive an introduction to the CAE application process, learn about the requirements for Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and CyberAI designations, and gain practical guidance from experienced CAE mentors, peer reviewers, and national program leaders.

Whether your institution is just beginning to explore the CAE program or is preparing to pursue designation, this workshop will help you understand the process, identify what is required and connect with experts who can support your efforts.

This workshop is intended for:

Colleges and universities interested in pursuing CAE designation
Faculty and academic leaders involved in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, artificial intelligence, or related programs
Department chairs, deans, program coordinators, and administrators
Current or prospective CAE Points of Contact (POCs)
Institutions seeking guidance on how to begin the CAE application process

No prior CAE experience is required.

A working lunch will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own breakfast, beverages, coffee, and additional snacks.

Travel Funding and Participation Stipend Eligibility

Limited travel support and participation stipends may be available for approved participants, subject to federal grant requirements and available funding.

To be considered, participants must:

Be new to the CAE application process
Be legally eligible to receive payment from a U.S. Department of Defense-funded grant within the United States
Be able to complete a valid IRS Form W-9 and Direct Deposit Authorization Form

Participation stipends are available only to eligible individuals who attend the full workshop.
