Video Series: Maritime Cybersecurity

At this month's webinar, Philip Craiger presents on a series of maritime cybersecurity videos he created for the NCyTE YouTube channel. The first video introduces the Maritime Transportation System (MTS) as part of our nation’s critical infrastructure and explores its growing reliance on complex systems of information communication technologies; it also describes the consequences of the Maersk cyber incident in 2017. The second and third videos provide more technical detail regarding cybersecurity but require additional technical knowledge, examining specific cyber threat vectors and mitigation strategies.

In this webinar, Dr. Craiger explains how faculty and teachers can use these videos to supplement their information technology or cybersecurity curriculum.

The maritime cybersecurity video series is one of several video series on the NCyTE YouTube channel providing an overview of applications of cybersecurity (e.g., maritime, aviation, supply chain, etc.) normally not discussed in information technology or cybersecurity courses. These videos help broaden students' understanding of how cybersecurity affects various domains.

Guest Speaker: Philip Craiger, NCyTE Center Co-PI, is an Associate Professor of Cybersecurity in the Department of Security Studies and International Affairs, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
