You are invited to join local attendees at a dinner and an engaging panel discussion that will discuss awareness, requirements, opportunities, and barriers and provide information for community college students seeking a career in cybersecurity. Alvin Community College Cybersecurity Industry Night will also introduce our program to the community and forge relationships for future graduate employment opportunities.

The dinner and networking will occur from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in C227.

The discussion on the future of cybersecurity, the need for inclusion, and the current job market/environment in the Texas, Gulf Coast Region and what the future of cybersecurity looks like will take place from 7:00 pm -8:30 pm in the theater and will address the following key questions:  

  • What are the entry-level requirements for cybersecurity students? 
  • What jobs do you consider cybersecurity or a pathway to a cybersecurity career? 
  • What internships and apprenticeships are available to our students? 
  • How important are Industry Certifications? 
  • What are the NICE Framework and Work Roles? 
  • Questions for the audience, if time permits? 

    Invited guests to this special cybersecurity event include area business leaders, local government officials, Alvin Community College, influential regional industry representatives, and NCyTE Center representatives to network and discuss issues critical to growing the regional cybersecurity workforce.

    Keynote Speakers:

    David Luna,( CISSP,CEH,CSFR ) has served as the Team Lead for the Department of Information Resources (DIR) Cyber Operations Center for the last two years. With over 20 years’ experience with State Agencies in both Network and Cybersecurity roles, his continuous focus on process improvement and automation maximizes his team’s resources for perimeter defense, malware analysis, active threat hunting, and dark web investigation.  Through in-depth data analysis and reporting, he finds trends and opportunities to steer the team’s projects and technology acquisition toward the best possible cyber defense posture for the State of Texas.   

    When he’s not at DIR, David loves to spend time with family.  Currently, David and his three boys are all 1st Degree Black belts.

    Dd Budiharto is a founder of Cyber Point Advisory, LLC, a leader in fractional CISO firm that provides cyber security advisory services to small and mid size businesses (SMBs). She partners with executive teams, business stakeholders, and IT leaders to develop strategy and road map to enhance the organization’s cyber security posture. Her efforts have been instrumental in delivering significantly enhanced information and cyber security for companies including Phillips 66, Baker Hughes, Marathon Oil Corporation, and Halliburton. Dd has been a digital security visionary for 20+ years. As an industry leader, she worked closely with the White House on Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity initiatives.

    She was a founding member of the CISO Leadership Council, served as chairman of the American Petroleum Institute (API) IT Security Subcommittee, where she collaborated with the White House, and is currently a Governing Member of Evanta/Gartner and SecureWorld CISO Executive.

    Dd is passionate about developing the next generations cyber security warriors for the underrepresented groups. She serves as a Board of Director of LINK Houston and has remained active as a speaker, moderator, mentor, and advisor at multiple universities over time, including the University of Houston, Baylor University, University of St Thomas, and Rice University Baker Institute.
