Virtual Cyber Career Challenge Info Session

Community college, technical college, and university students are encouraged to apply! Students must attend an Info Session to meet eligibility requirements.

Virtual Cybersecurity Career Challenge

NCyTE’s Virtual Cyber Career Challenge offers students hands-on experience in cybersecurity workforce roles. Participants work in teams to configure, operate, protect, and defend a small network of machines in a virtual environment. Past participants have used the challenge to meet internship or co-op program requirements—students should check with their institutions about specific requirements.

Eligibility

  • Completion of introductory networking and cybersecurity courses.
  • Attendance at an information session (required to apply).
  • Complete Application by February 3
  • Completed instructor endorsement received by February 3

Cyber Challenge Job Description

  • Develop a project plan for an information system supporting a fictitious business.
  • Use project management tools for communication and implementation.
  • Operate a network of nine devices within specified requirements.
  • Defend their network against penetration tests.
  • Analyze and report on findings from penetration testing.
  • Present results to industry experts.

Section one:
February 25 to May 6,
11 to 1 pm PST
(2 to 4 pm EST)

Section two:
February 26 to May 7
5 to 7 pm PST
(8 to 10 pm EST)
