Who Should Attend:

This workshop is tailored specifically for community and technical college faculty members wishing to expand their knowledge, earn an industry certification, and strengthen their ability to incorporate new cybersecurity content in their community college curriculum. This workshop is not intended for students or other non-faculty participants.

About the Workshop:

Gain the credentials that set you apart in the cybersecurity field with the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) training—now enhanced through the practical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

This comprehensive course equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to design, implement, and manage a world-class cybersecurity program. In this AI-integrated workshop, participants will leverage AI tools to analyze security architectures, evaluate risk scenarios, generate policy drafts, and reinforce key CISSP domain concepts through guided simulations and case-based learning.

Offered through the NCyTE Center as part of the ISC2 Global Academic Program, this training provides all student materials, flashcards, and access to the CISSP CBK, ensuring thorough preparation for the CISSP exam. By incorporating AI into the learning experience, the workshop also builds critical insight into securing AI systems, governing AI use, and understanding AI-related risks within enterprise environments.

Comprehensive review of the 8 CISSP domains, including Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture and Engineering, Security Operations, and more.

Connecting Researchers and Educators to National Computing and AI Resources

Advanced computing, artificial intelligence, and research networking resources are transforming research and education across disciplines, yet many researchers, educators, and students remain unaware of the national infrastructure available to support their work. This presentation introduces the Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem: Services & Support (ACCESS) program, the National AI Research Resource (NAIRR) Pilot, and the National Research Platform (NRP), highlighting opportunities to obtain computing allocations, AI resources, research networking capabilities, training, and educational support. Participants will learn how to access nationally supported cyberinfrastructure resources, leverage advanced computational and data-intensive platforms, and take advantage of training and user support services designed to accelerate discovery and innovation. The session will provide practical guidance for educators seeking classroom resources and researchers looking to expand the scale, impact, and accessibility of their computational and data-driven projects through nationally coordinated infrastructure and services.

Presenter

Lisa M. Perez is the Director of Advanced Computing Enablement at Texas A&M University's High Performance Research Computing (HPRC) program. She leads initiatives that help researchers, educators, and students leverage advanced cyberinfrastructure to accelerate discovery and innovation across disciplines. With extensive experience in research computing, user engagement, workforce development, and scientific collaboration, Lisa works closely with regional and national partners to expand access to high-performance computing, data-intensive computing, and artificial intelligence.

At Texas A&M, she focuses on connecting researchers with the tools, expertise, and training needed to effectively utilize local and national cyberinfrastructure ecosystems, including resources supported by the National Science Foundation. Her work emphasizes reducing barriers to advanced computing, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and enabling scalable research workflows that address complex scientific and engineering challenges.

Lisa is a strong advocate for building research computing communities and expanding opportunities for researchers at all levels to benefit from national-scale computing and data resources. Through her leadership, she helps advance the mission of empowering research through accessible, sustainable, and impactful cyberinfrastructure.

CAE-CD/AI Program Development Workshop

Interested in becoming a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense?

The CAE Candidates National Center (CCNC), in collaboration with the CAE Peer Review National Center (PRNC), invites faculty, administrators, and program leaders to attend an in-person CAE-CD/AI Program Development Workshop on October 16, 2026, at the University of Colorado Denver.

This workshop is designed specifically for institutions that are new to the CAE program and would like to learn how to get started. Participants will receive an introduction to the CAE application process, learn about the requirements for Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and CyberAI designations, and gain practical guidance from experienced CAE mentors, peer reviewers, and national program leaders.

Whether your institution is just beginning to explore the CAE program or is preparing to pursue designation, this workshop will help you understand the process, identify what is required and connect with experts who can support your efforts.

Capacity: Limited to 25 participants

Travel Support: Limited travel funding is available for approved participants.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is intended for:

Colleges and universities interested in pursuing CAE designation
Faculty and academic leaders involved in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, artificial intelligence, or related programs
Department chairs, deans, program coordinators, and administrators
Prospective CAE Points of Contact (POCs)
Institutions seeking guidance on how to begin the CAE application process

This workshop is only available for institutions new to the CAE process, those who are not currently CAE designated and not currently assigned to an application cycle.

What Will Participants Learn?

Participants will:

Learn about the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program
Understand the requirements for CAE-CD and CAE-CyberAI designation
Explore the Program of Study validation process
Learn how to prepare a CAE application
Receive guidance on common challenges and best practices
Leave with a clearer understanding of the steps needed to pursue CAE designation

A working lunch will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own breakfast, beverages, coffee, and additional snacks.

Travel Stipend Eligibility

Limited travel support stipends are available for eligible participants. Travel stipends will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only one participant per institution may receive travel funding. Travel stipends are provided after the participants attends the workshop, attendance at the workshop is required to receive the stipend. Participants requesting travel support can complete a form in the registration confirmation email to be considered.

To be considered, participants must:

Be new to the CAE application process
Be legally eligible to receive payment from a U.S. Department of Defense-funded grant within the United States
Be able to complete a valid IRS Form W-9 and Direct Deposit Authorization Form
