Cybersecurity faculty are in demand across the nation!  The Faculty Fellowship Program will introduce and prepare students for a career path of teaching cybersecurity in a community college setting.

Who should attend:

  • College/university students in their final year of or recently graduated with a bachelor or master’s degree in cybersecurity from a regionally accredited college or university

Spread the word and encourage students that might be interested in teaching cybersecurity at the community college level to apply! This workshop is not for current cybersecurity college/university faculty.

About the Program:

The orientation workshop includes an introduction to 21st Century classroom methods and pedagogy. The workshop will be delivered virtually through Zoom and Canvas. Participants will be asked to complete Microsoft Learn modules and will complete the review questions and quizzes after each module. Content covered during this course will prepare you for the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) certification exam.

This will be followed by a 7-day intensive bootcamp in July/August 2023* (schedule below), which includes two days of in-person instruction at Moraine Valley Community College and five days of virtual instruction for a total of 40 hours. Upon successful completion, participants will be placed at a participating community college as a teaching assistant, where they will contribute a minimum of 60 hours of service and lead at least one lesson. Collaborating with their host college supervisor, participants will co-create a flexible schedule and assignments that align with their strengths and goals.

What you will learn and do:

  • Exploring career opportunities in cybersecurity education
  • Teaching methods for a variety of cybersecurity topics
  • Developing lesson plans and syllabi
  • Leading a classroom
  • Preparing for an industry certification
