Focus Group: Cybersecurity Concept Lessons

April 20 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time

About the Focus Group:

The National Cybersecurity Training & Education (NCyTE) Center is hosting a virtual focus group on the C5 Cybersecurity Concept Lessons. We are looking for high school teachers interested in discussing and providing feedback on these lessons. A $50 stipend is available for attending.

We ask that participants that have not used the lessons in a classroom review at least one of the Cybersecurity Concept Lessons available from the websites listed below prior to the focus group. Please come prepared to provide feedback.

The focus group will be facilitated by Corrinne Sande, Director of the National Cybersecurity Training & Education (NCyTE) Center and Director of Computer Science and Information Systems at Whatcom Community College.

For questions regarding the focus group, please contact Suzie Dale Hong, Project Coordinator,  at sdalehong@whatcom.edu

About the C5 Cybersecurity Concept Lessons:

The C5 Cybersecurity Concept Lessons are 13 individual lessons that were created to integrate cybersecurity into the Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles (AP CSP)course. The lessons were developed by high school instructors who have experience teaching the  AP CSP course.

Web-based versions of the lessons are accessible via CodeHS in Python and JavaScript with a free teacher account on CodeHS.com.

Downloadable versions of the lessons are available via the CLARK cybersecurity curriculum library with a free account.

Additional Cybersecurity Curriculum Resource - AP CSP: Cybersecurity

AP CSP: Cybersecurity is an Advanced Placement course that merges the foundational concepts of computer science and cybersecurity into an introductory curriculum. The course was developed by the NCyTE Center in partnership with CodeHS, and is endorsed by the College Board.

The AP Computer Science Principles: Cybersecurity curriculum is accessible on the CodeHS platform. High school teachers can access it through a free teacher account.

The material in the Cybersecurity Concept Lessons and AP CSP: Cybersecurity are based upon work supported by the NCyTE Center and the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 1548315, Catalyzing Computing and Cybersecurity in Community Colleges (C5).

NCyTE is funded by a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education Center Grant No. 2054724.
