The AI Horizon – How to prepare for what awaits on the other side
July 18, 2025
9-10 am Pacific Time | Virtual
Vincent Nestler will introduce the AI-Horizon project, an NSF-funded initiative that addresses the critical gap between rapid AI technological evolution and cybersecurity education adaptation. In the session, he will demonstrate how our innovative forecasting framework predicts which cybersecurity tasks will be augmented by AI, replaced by AI, create new tasks, or remain human-driven, enabling educators to adapt curriculum with unprecedented agility.
Participants will explore how this high-risk, high-reward approach compresses traditional educational adaptation cycles from years to weeks, fundamentally transforming how cybersecurity education keeps pace with technological advancement.
Live Platform Demonstrations
The workshop features hands-on demonstrations of two core applications. First, the AI-Horizon Forecasting App - a comprehensive cybersecurity workforce intelligence system that analyzes AI's impact on cybersecurity careers through automated data collection, quality assessment, and advanced analysis tools. This platform includes interactive visualizations, complete DoD Cybersecurity Workforce Framework integration with 1,878 tasks, and professional PDF export capabilities. Second, the Program App - an educational platform deployed at ed.theaihorizon.org that helps students and faculty discover and learn emerging AI-related skills needed for workforce preparedness.
Together, these platforms represent a complete ecosystem for bridging the gap between traditional cybersecurity education and the AI-enhanced workplace, directly addressing critical national security imperatives through data-driven educational transformation.
