  About the Workshop: 

  This workshop in Python programming provides the knowledge and training to develop and maintain effective Python programs/scripts. Community college educators will learn to create Python scripts using functions, modules, classes, and much more as part of Python’s object-orientated paradigm. Participants will learn how to utilize Python to create scripts that manipulate data, automate tasks, perform error handling, and store and retrieve data. The class will provide hands on exercises to reinforce learning and develop real competency. The key concepts covered in this workshop include: web recon, port scanning, and packet sniffing, the instructor will introduce several concepts and commands.

  NCyTE is offering a free workshop that will cover the CMMC 2.0 and the new Department of Defense (DoD) requirements which include: moving from a five-level compliance model to a three-level model, shifting most auditing requirements to the DoD, and revising the program to mirror NIST 800-171 more closely.

By immersing you in the hacker mindset, you will gain a better understanding of how to anticipate and protect against potential threats.

  This workshop goes beyond the narrow focus of specific vendors, technologies or equipment and emphasizes on a holistic security mindset. With live demonstrations of these techniques, you will gain hands-on experience in creating, packaging, and deploying malware in a realistic network environment.   In our highly connected and automated workplaces, cybersecurity is essential across all sectors of the modern economy. The Cybersecurity Across Disciplines (CyAD) Conference, is a unique event designed to serve educators in various fields.  Seize the opportunity to explore the intersection of cybersecurity with your specific educational program areas and the Critical Infrastructure Sectors they serve.

  This conference brings together community and technical college faculty from diverse disciplines to address cybersecurity challenges in key sectors such as business and critical infrastructure including but not limited to manufacturing, healthcare, retail, engineering, and banking and finance.

  The CyAD conference will explore creative ways to build learning communities that go beyond specific fields of study. These communities help teachers work together and share practical ideas for including cybersecurity in their courses. We'll also share new content like case studies, lessons, and materials that can be easily added to existing classes.You do not need a cybersecurity background to participate.

  CompTIA Security+ is a globally trusted, vendor-neutral certification that validates the baseline skills necessary to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career.

  Security+ incorporates best practices in hands-on troubleshooting, this workshop will ensure candidates have practical security problem-solving skills required to:

  • Assess the security posture of an enterprise environment and recommend and implement appropriate security solutions
  • Monitor and secure hybrid environments, including cloud, mobile, and IoT
  • Operate with an awareness of applicable laws and policies, including principles of governance, risk, and compliance
  • Identify, analyze, and respond to security events and incidents

  Stipend:

  Eligible community college faculty who successfully pass the CompTIA Security+ certification exam will receive a stipend toward the cost of the certification.

  To be eligible for the stipend, you must:

  • Currently teach college credit courses (full-time or adjunct) at a regionally accredited U.S. community or technical college
  • Provide evidence that you passed the certification exam, such as a copy of the certification or exam report

  The workshop's curriculum is designed to provide an in-depth look at the practical applications of AI in cybersecurity. Faculty members will engage in detailed discussions and hands-on activities focusing on the use of machine learning in detecting and responding to cyber threats, highlighting how these technologies can enhance traditional security measures. The program will also cover critical topics such as the deployment of AI in threat hunting and incident response, demonstrating the ways AI can improve efficiency and effectiveness in identifying and mitigating cyber risks. Furthermore, the workshop will address the darker aspects of AI in cybersecurity, including adversarial attacks using AI and the creation and detection of Deep Fakes, particularly in the context of social engineering.

  This workshop will also explore the role of AI in compliance and cybersecurity risk management, where AI-driven analytics can significantly contribute to organizational security posture. The faculty will also discuss practical considerations and ethical dilemmas posed by AI in cybersecurity, preparing them to navigate the complexities of integrating AI into their teaching curricula. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped not only with a thorough understanding of AI's impact on cybersecurity but also with the knowledge and tools to effectively teach these concepts, preparing the next generation of IT professionals to face the evolving cyber landscape.

  Stipend: 
  

  Eligible community college faculty will receive up to a $500 stipend upon successfully completing the academy.

  To be eligible for the stipends, you must:

  • Currently teach college credit courses (full-time or adjunct) at a regionally accredited U.S. community or technical college
  • Attend all sessions and complete the required assignments/projects
  • Provide a current W9 tax form to the NCyTE Center
  • Participation stipends will be prioritized to individuals that have not received NCyTE support in the past year

  Stipend:

  Eligible community college faculty who successfully pass the CISA certification exam will receive a stipend toward the cost of the certification.

  To be eligible for the stipend, you must:

  • Currently teach college credit courses (full-time or adjunct) at a regionally accredited U.S. community or technical college
  • Provide evidence that you passed the certification exam, such as a copy of the certification or exam report
  • Provide a current W9 tax form to the NCyTE Center

  This workshop is funded and tailored specifically for community and technical college faculty members wishing to expand their knowledge, earn an industry certification, and strengthen their ability to incorporate new cybersecurity content in their community college curriculum. This workshop is not intended for students or other non-faculty participants.

  About the Workshop: 

  The surge in cloud computing, notably Amazon Web Services (AWS), has been significant. Understanding and utilizing these services have become crucial for educators, particularly in teaching information technology and cybersecurity programs. The "AWS Cloud Essentials" course is tailored specifically for community college educators, offering a comprehensive toolkit to harness the potential of cloud computing within the educational sphere. Through engaging lab activities, participants will immerse themselves in the core concepts of AWS, gaining a profound comprehension of cloud computing principles, services, and best practices. This course covers a spectrum of topics, from storage solutions to computational resources, equipping educators with the tools to seamlessly integrate cloud technology into their curriculum, courses, and teaching methodologies and fostering innovation and collaborative learning environments for students.

  Throughout the course, participants will actively participate in hands-on exercises, collaborative team projects, interactive discussions, and real-world case studies facilitated by seasoned instructors with expertise in education and cloud computing. Community college educators will emerge equipped with the confidence and competence to leverage AWS cloud services effectively, enriching student learning and equipping them with the skills necessary for success in an increasingly digital world.

  NCyTE is offering a free workshop that will cover the CMMC 2.0 and the new Department of Defense (DoD) requirements which include: moving from a five-level compliance model to a three-level model, shifting most auditing requirements to the DoD, and revising the program to mirror NIST 800-171 more closely.
